Hamilton Police Seek Witnesses in Stoney Creek Shooting

On Thursday, February 26th, 2026, shortly after 9:30pm, Hamilton Police were called to the corner of Barton Street East and Jones Road in Stoney Creek for a shooting involving two vehicles. Upon arrival, officers learned from a witness that two vehicles were involved in a collision, which ended in gunfire. Both vehicles fled the scene towards Niagara Region. No victims were located in this matter.
The intersection of Barton Street East and Jones Road will be closed temporarily to allow the Forensic Services Unit to process the scene. The road closure is anticipated to be 2-3hrs. The closure will effect east-west traffic of Barton Street East.
At this time, the police are actively seeking any potential witnesses to this incident and urge anyone with information to come forward. Investigators are also requesting any residents or business in the immediate neighbourhood to check their security systems for any potential video that may assist the investigation.
This is the City’s 4th shooting of 2026.
