Hamilton Police Seize Firearm Following Altercation

Hamilton Police seized a loaded shotgun earlier today after responding to a disturbance near Main Street East and Wentworth Street.
On December 4, 2024, at approximately 9:15 am, police were called to a business regarding a dispute that escalated into violence. During the altercation, a woman was struck in the face with the butt of a shotgun, sustaining minor injuries.
Officers arriving at the scene located the suspect attempting to leave in a taxi. Upon investigation, police recovered a loaded shotgun in the trunk of the vehicle.
A 25-year-old woman from Hamilton has been arrested and is facing multiple charges related to the incident, including the following:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Assault with a weapon
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession
- Point firearm x2
- Possession contrary to order x4
- CDSA 5(2) – Fentanyl
- CDSA 5(2) Cocaine
- CDSA 5(2) – Hydromorph
- Proceeds of crime
- Obstruct Peace Officer
