Homicide Investigation In Stoney Creek

On Thursday March 6, 2025 the Hamilton Police Service received several 911 calls at 4:20 AM for a shooting in the area of Hwy 8 and Fruitland Road in Stoney Creek.
Officers responded and located two vehicles that had been involved in a collision just east of the intersection. One vehicle was a white Kia and the second vehicle was a red Acura.
Officers located one male in the Acura who was suffering from multiple gunshots. That male was transported to an area hospital and later died as a result of those injuries. That victim has now been identified 16-year old Faizaan Awan.
Police have learned that Faizaan was driving eastbound on Hwy 8 while being pursued by multiple vehicles. During the chase there was a collision between the Acura and Kia resulting in the chase ending just east of Fruitland Road.
Multiple gunshots were then fired at the Acura. Several people then fled the area in cars and on foot leaving Faizaan behind at the scene.
Hwy 8 and Fruitland Road were closed for several hours yesterday but the roads were opened in late afternoon.
Police believe this to be a targeted shooting and continue to conduct interviews and gather CCTV in the area.
