Illegal Psilocybin Storefront Shut Down; Man Charged

The Hamilton Police Service has charged a 21-year-old Hamilton man following an investigation into the unlawful sale of psilocybin from a storefront business in the city’s east end.
In January 2026, members of the Division 2 HEAT Unit began an investigation into a business operating as “Shroom Godz,” located at 1466 Main Street East.
On February 13, 2026, members of the Hamilton Police Service executed a search warrant at the location. Wesley Chevrier of Hamilton was located inside the business and arrested without incident.
Officers seized approximately 1,642 grams of psilocybin in various packaged forms.
As a result of the investigation, Wesley Chevrier has been charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule III Substance (Psilocybin), contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled drugs and Substances Act
CHEVRIER was transported to Division 20 and later released on an Undertaking.
Psilocybin remains a controlled substance under federal law. The Hamilton Police Service reminds members of the public that the sale of controlled substances outside of the federal regulatory framework is illegal. Businesses operating within the City of Hamilton are expected to comply with all applicable laws.
