Male Arrested After Unprovoked Attack

Hamilton Police have arrested a male in connection with an unprovoked assault that left a senior with critical injuries.
On January 20, 2026, at approximately 4:00 pm, officers were called to a building in the area of King Street West after security guards located an unconscious male suffering from head injuries. Paramedic services attended the scene and transported the 67-year-old victim to hospital, where he was intubated and remains in critical condition.
Through investigation, officers determined that the victim was unexpectedly struck with a closed fist by a 48-year-old male who is known to police. As a result of the assault, the victim fell to the ground and remained unconscious.
The accused was located in the immediate area and taken into custody without incident.
He has been charged with the following offences and was held for a bail hearing:
- Aggravated Assault
- Fail to Comply with Probation x8
