Pedestrian Fatally Struck on Upper Ottawa Street

Hamilton Police are investigating a fatal collision involving an elderly pedestrian that occurred shortly before 10:00 am on Thursday, November 20.

An 83-year-old male was walking his dog westbound in the crosswalk at Upper Ottawa Street and Anson Avenue when he was struck by a red, four-door sedan travelling northbound. Hamilton Police, Hamilton Fire and Hamilton Paramedics responded. The male was transported to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The dog was not injured.

The driver of the involved vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The Hamilton Police Traffic Reconstruction Unit is leading the investigation. Traffic restrictions remain in place in the area while officers conduct their work.

Police are asking residents and motorists to assist by reviewing any available footage. If you live nearby, please check your home security cameras. Motorists who were in the area at the time are asked to review their dash-cam recordings for any relevant evidence.
