Police arrest male armed with crossbow

Proactive police work has led to the arrest of a male armed with a crossbow.
On January 28, 2025 at approximately 11:00 am officers from the Division 2 High Enforcement Action Team (H.E.A.T) spotted a vehicle operating on the roadways that appeared to be committing a Highway Traffic Act offence. The officers followed the vehicle to an encampment near Birch Avenue and observed a male carrying a wooden crossbow complete with bolts approach the vehicle.
Officers moved in and placed the driver of the vehicle as well as the male with the crossbow under arrest. Further investigation revealed that the male with the crossbow was violating a weapons prohibition order as well as a probation order. The 34-year-old male from Hamilton was subsequently charged with the following:
Possession contrary to order
Fail to comply probation order x2
The highway traffic act charges were not pursued regarding the driver of the vehicle.
