Police Discover Loaded Firearm on Youth

Hamilton Police have taken another firearm off of the street.
On Wednesday April 2, 2025, at approximately 2:50 pm, officers from the Hamilton Police High Enforcement Action Team (H.E.A.T) located a young person who was violating their court ordered release conditions. The youth had been ordered to remain in his residence daily, however he was observed at a store near the area of Wentworth Street and Main Street.
Officers approached the youth and placed him under arrest. During a search, Police discovered the following items:
- A fully loaded handgun
- 7 grams of fentanyl
- 24 grams of crack cocaine
- 46 grams of powder cocaine
- A large amount of money consistent with drug trafficking
The 16-year-old youth from Hamilton will now go before the courts for the following charges:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – fentanyl
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – cocaine
- Proceeds of Crime Over $5000.00
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Prohibited Firearm – Loaded
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession Contrary to Order
- Fail to Comply with Release Order x2
- Breach Probation – Youth
