Police Search for Driver in Serious Hit-and-Run

The Hamilton Police Service is investigating a serious motor vehicle collision that left a pedestrian with life-altering injuries.
At approximately 11:50 am on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, emergency services responded to the intersection of Rymal Road East and Upper Wellington Street following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian.
A 44-year-old man was struck after a vehicle failed to stop for a red light. The driver briefly stopped but then fled the scene eastbound on Rymal Road East in a Jeep SUV.
The victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
The Hamilton Police Service Traffic Safety Unit is leading the investigation. Officers are speaking with witnesses and reviewing nearby video footage.
Police are urging the driver involved to come forward and speak with investigators.
