Hamilton Police Service Division 30 Detectives are thanking members of the public for their assistance after information was shared last week regarding a suspect involved in residential break and enter incidents on the east mountain.

On February 27, 2026, police received information from a member of the public that led officers to locate and arrest the suspect without incident.

As a result of the investigation, members of the Division 30 Criminal Investigation Branch have arrested and charged:

Jose De Guzman, 46 years old, of Brampton, with:

  • Two counts of Break and Enter to Commit Theft
  • Two counts of Failing to Comply with Probation

At the time of his arrest, De Guzman was not known to the Hamilton Police Service.

Investigators also recovered property believed to be stolen. Photographs of these items are being released in an effort to identify and return them to their rightful owners. Anyone who recognizes the property or believes it may belong to them is asked to contact investigators.

The investigation into these and other break and enter incidents within the division remains ongoing.
