Second Arrest Made in Randhawa Homicide

Hamilton Police have made a second arrest this week in the shooting death of Harsimrat Randhawa, an innocent bystander.

On April 17, 2025 Harsimrat Randhawa, a Mohawk College Student, was tragically shot and killed while she stood near a bus stop at the intersection of Upper James Street and South Bend Road in the City of Hamilton.

After several weeks of investigation, the Hamilton Police Service Homicide Unit announced that 32-year-old Jerdaine Foster had been arrested on August 5th and charged with First Degree Murder and Attempted Murder (3 Counts).

The Hamilton Police Service Homicide Unit has now arrested a second person who was involved in the events leading up to the shooting death of Harsimrat. On August 7th, members of the Hamilton Police Service located and arrested 26-year old Obiesea Okafor in North York. He was transported back to Hamilton and has now been charged with:

  • Attempted Murder (3 counts)

This investigation is ongoing, and detectives continue to relentlessly pursue all leads to identify and arrest those involved in this murder.
