Driver Deceased Following Single Vehicle Collision in Waterdown.
On Thursday August 15, 2024, at approximately 11:40 AM Hamilton Emergency Services responded to 687 Centre Road in the City of Hamilton for reports of a single motor vehicle collision involving a white Ford Econoline van. The Ford had left the roadway went into the ditch and struck a pole. The driver, a 69 year-old male from Hamilton was found to be in medical distress at the scene and was transported to hospital where he was later pronounced.
The Coroner’s Office is investigating a possible medical episode prior to the vehicle leaving the roadway. The Hamilton Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit was activated to assist with this investigation.
Speed, driver impairment and distraction have been ruled out.
Centre Road was closed for several hours for the investigation but has since reopened.
