Hamilton Police have arrested a 31-year-old Hamilton man in connection with a hate bias-motivated graffiti incident. He has been charged with Mischief to Property.

The arrest follows a recent media release and crucial assistance from community witnesses. Their information helped detectives from the Hamilton Police Service Hate Crime Unit identify and locate the suspect.

The incident occurred on September 11, 2025, when police received a report of hate bias graffiti on a business in the area of James Street North and Murray Street West. CCTV footage captured a suspect spray-painting a Hakenkreuz (commonly referred to as a Nazi Swastika) on the property.

Hamilton Police continue to urge members of the public to report all incidents of hate-motivated graffiti. Hate graffiti is more than an act of vandalism — it is an attack on the dignity of individuals and communities. Reporting helps police take immediate action and supports our shared goal of keeping Hamilton safe and welcoming for everyone.

To report hate-motivated graffiti or any crime:

Hate has no place in Hamilton. Your voice and vigilance help us respond effectively and ensure that our city remains a place where everyone feels safe and respected.
