Hamilton Police have arrested two youths in connection with a violent incident that occurred on the East Mountain.

On January 21, 2026, at approximately 8:45 pm, police were dispatched to a residence on East 14th Street for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, officers located a 15-year-old male suffering from the effects of bear spray exposure, as well as an adult male who had been threatened with a knife.

Through investigation, officers learned that the youth victim had arrived in the area by rideshare to meet a friend. Upon exiting the vehicle, he was confronted by a group of male youths who were brandishing knives and bear spray. The victim was sprayed and fled on foot, with the group pursuing him.

The youth sought refuge by entering a nearby vehicle belonging to an unsuspecting resident who was clearing snow at the time. The suspects gained access to the vehicle and continued to spray the victim inside.

When the vehicle owner intervened, he was threatened at knifepoint. Despite the threat, he stood his ground while his wife and infant were nearby. The suspects eventually fled the area. The youth victim was transported to a hospital by ambulance.

As a result of the investigation, police identified and arrested two male youths involved in the incident. A 15-year-old and a 17-year-old, both from Hamilton, have been charged with multiple offences, including but not limited to Uttering Threats to Cause Death, Administering a Noxious Substance, and Assault with a Weapon.
