UPDATE: Arrest Made in Hate-Motivated Assault

Hamilton Police have arrested a 16-year-old male in relation to a hate-motivated assault that took place in Ancaster last month.
On Saturday, October 25, 2025, at approximately 9:30 pm, a 20-year-old woman was walking in the area of Golf Links Road and Neville Drive when she was approached by a vehicle. The occupants of the vehicle began to utter anti-black slurs towards the victim and proceeded to assault her. The vehicle and occupants were unknown to the victim, and Hamilton Police investigated the incident as a hate crime.
On November 4, 2025, Officers located the vehicle used during the incident and arrested the driver without incident. The youth, who cannot be named in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with the following offences and held for a bail hearing:
- Assault with a weapon
- Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
Police are still searching for a second male suspect involved in the assault. He was described as wearing a yellow jacket and black balaclava.
