UPDATE: Arrest Made in Randhawa Homicide

Hamilton Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting death of Harsimrat Randhawa, a Mohawk College student and innocent bystander.
On April 17, 2025, at approximately 7:30 pm, Harsimrat Randhawa was fatally struck by a stray bullet while waiting at a bus stop near the intersection of Upper James Street and South Bend Road. Harsimrat had just left a local gym and was travelling home when she was caught in the crossfire of a violent altercation involving multiple vehicles.
The investigation revealed that a dispute occurred between the occupants of several motor vehicles in the area, during which multiple gunshots were fired. Harsimrat, who was not involved in the altercation, was tragically killed by a single bullet.
On August 5, 2025, members of the Hamilton Police Service, with assistance from Niagara Regional Police, arrested 32-year-old Jerdaine Foster in Niagara Falls without incident. Foster appeared in court on August 6 and has been charged with the following offences:
- First Degree Murder of Harsimrat Randhawa
- Attempted Murder ×3
Investigators believe that at least seven individuals were involved in the violent altercation that led to Harsimrat’s death. The investigation remains active and ongoing as police continue to identify, locate, and arrest those responsible.
