UPDATE: Police Looking to Identify Suspect in Shooting

The Hamilton Police Service is continuing to investigate the first shooting of 2026, and are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect and vehicle.
At approximately 7:13 pm on January 31, 2026, Hamilton Police responded to a business located in the area of East 28th Street and Fennell Avenue East for a report of a shooting. As a result of the shooting, an adult male was injured and transported to a Hospital in serious condition.
Detectives with the Shooting Response Team can now confirm that the suspected shooter fled in a waiting motor vehicle. We are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying both the suspect and the vehicle.
Suspect
Male, 6’0’’-6’3’’ in height, wearing a dark green coloured puffy winter jacket, a black hoodie sweater with a large white “Adidas” logo on the front, black pants and black shoes.
Vehicle
Believed to be a 2020 Honda Civic 4-door, silver or grey in colour. Last seen fleeing the area of the shooting north bound on Upper Sherman Avenue from Brucedale Avenue East.
