A DRIVER IS CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING AND DRUG RELATED OFFENCES

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged one person with impaired driving and drug related offences.
On Wednesday April 1, 2026, at approximately 2:15 pm, members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the OPP, conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle on King Street, West Nipissing.
The driver provided, two driver licenses and was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle, then transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.
Police located a small amount of drugs suspected to be methamphetamine.
As a result of the investigation, Alexander GILCHRIST, 34 years old, from West Nipissing was charged with, - Operation while impaired - drugs
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine
- No clear view to sides
- No clear view to rear
- Possess more than one licence
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on May 7, 2026, in North Bay.
The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
