DRIVER CHARGED AFTER TRAFFIC STOP IN NORTH BAY

(NORTH BAY) - A Callander resident is facing impaired driving charges following an early‑morning traffic stop conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police in North Bay.
On Saturday, May 2, 2026, at approximately 6:15 am, an officer from the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police observed a vehicle parked in a gas station parking lot along the Highway 11/17 bypass. The driver was observed slouched over with their head in their lap, appearing to be unconscious.
During the interaction, the officer observed signs consistent with impairment by a drug. The driver was arrested and transported to the North Bay OPP Detachment for further testing. A search of the vehicle, conducted incident to the arrest, resulted in the seizure of suspected psilocybin.
As a result of the investigation, Remington JONES, 27 years of age, of Callander, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - drugs
- Possession of a schedule III substance - psilocybin
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on June 2, 2026. The driver was also issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
