ONE PERSON ARRESTED AFTER FAILING TO STOP FOR POLICE

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) - Police arrested and charged one person after a vehicle failed to stop for police.
On Thursday April 2, 2026, shortly after 10:40 am, the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attempted to conduct a traffic stop with a vehicle traveling on Highway 17, West Nipissing.
The vehicle failed to stop but was later located by police. The driver was arrested and a search of the vehicle located drugs suspected to be methamphetamine
As a result of the investigation, Andre AYOTTE, 36 years-of-age, from West Nipissing, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired - drugs
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand
- Flight from peace officer
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance
- Dangerous operation
- Use plate not authorized for vehicle
- Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on May 7, 2026, in North Bay.
The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 14-days.
