SPEEDING STOP IN NORTH BAY LEADS TO IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES

(NORTH BAY, ON) - A speeding violation in North Bay led to impaired driving charges for a local resident.
On Sunday, November 2, 2025, at approximately 3:15 am, North Bay OPP officers observed a vehicle travelling northbound at 120 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone on Highway 11/17. A traffic stop was conducted on Maplewood Avenue, where officers detected signs of alcohol consumption. The driver was arrested and transported to the North Bay OPP detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Patrick HOUGHTON, 33 years-of-age from North Bay, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Speeding 40 km/h over posted limit
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on December 2, 2025, in North Bay. Additionally, they received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
