A DRIVER IS CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED OPERATION AFTER OPP INVESTIGATE A VEHICLE IN A DITCH

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged one person with impaired driving after police investigated a motor vehicle in a ditch.
On Sunday May 10, 2026, at approximately 12:50 pm, members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the OPP, responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 539, West Nipissing.
No injuries were reported and the driver was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to an OPP detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Leah JONES, 48 years old, from Wahnapitae was charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Fail to have insurance card
- Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 2, 2026, in North Bay.
The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
