DRIVER FACING CHARGES FOLLOWING TRAFFIC STOP

(HALDIMAND COUNTY) - A driver is facing charges following a traffic stop in Haldimand County.
On May 18, 2026, at approximately 1:50 pm, while on general patrol, a member of the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle being operated on Main Street, Selkirk.
The investigation determined that the driver failed to produce appropriate documents and was subsequently placed under arrest.
Donald STEELE, 59-years-old of Milton has been charged with the following offences:
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Driving While Under Suspension (two counts)
- Owner Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance
- Drive Motor Vehicle no Plates
- Operate Unsafe Vehicle
- Fail to Identify Self
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on July 21, 2026.
