HUMAN REMAINS LOCATED IN FATAL FIRE

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) - On Sunday, May 11, 2025, at approximately 3:32 am, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment, Haldimand County Fire Department, and Paramedic Services responded to a fire at a Kinross Street, Caledonia address.
Attending firefighters arrived on scene and were met with a fully engulfed house fire. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire however human remains were located inside the home. The identity of the deceased remains under investigation.
The Haldimand County OPP Crime Unit is continuing to investigate in conjunction with the Office of the Fire Marshall, the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
The fire is not being treated as suspicious, and no foul play is suspected.
