(CHATHAM KENT, ON) Two people were injured after two transport trucks collide on Highway 401 near the Orford Road exit.

On Monday, March 9, 2026, at approximately 6:15 am, Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham Kent Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in the westbound lanes.

The drivers from both vehicles were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The Ministry of the Environment attended because of a significant diesel spill.

As a result of the investigation, a 52-year-old from Ingersoll was charged with Careless driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

The highway was closed for several hours to complete the investigation and clean up the rodway.
