TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO SEIZURE OF UNMARKED CIGARETTES

(CENTRAL ELGIN, ON) - Two people are charged with possessing over 22,000 unmarked cigarettes after a traffic stop in the Municipality of Central Elgin.
On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at approximately 11:03 am, Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Ferguson Line.
A 33-year-old from Ohsweken, was charged under the Tobacco Tax Act with:
- Possess unmarked cigarettes
- Possess unmarked cigarettes for sale
- Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit (Highway Traffic Act)
A 55-year-old from Brantford was charged under the Tobacco Tax Act with:
- Possess unmarked cigarettes
- Possess unmarked cigarettes for sale
