(CHATHAM KENT, ON) - The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment, has charged two drivers on Highway 401.
On Sunday, May 24, 2026, at approximately 4:00 pm, a member of the Elgin OPP stopped a passenger vehicle in the westbound lanes of Kings Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham Kent. The motor vehicle was stopped for doing 159 kilometres and hour in a posted 100 km/h zone.
An 18-year-old of Kingsville was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform stunt - Excessive speed and Fail to surrender licence.
On Sunday, May 24,2026, at approximately 7:40 pm the same member of the Elgin OPP stopped a passenger vehicle in the eastbound lanes of Kings Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham Kent. The motor vehicle was stopped for doing 156 kilometers an hour in a posted 100k/h zone.
A 34-year-old of London was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform stunt - Excessive speed.
Their vehicles were impounded for 14 days, and driver’s licences was suspended for 30 days.
