OPP INVESTIGATE A SERIOUS COLLISION IN CHATHAM-KENT

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) Six people were injured after a serious collision on Highway 40 (St. Clair Road) in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at approximately 3:46 pm, Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 40.

An 80-year-old of Chatham-Kent was taken to a local hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the same vehicle, 87-year-old of Chatham-Kent was taken to local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle, 67-year-old of Chatham-Kent and three passengers, 41,19 and 14-years-old of Lambton County were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Members from the OPP Technical Collision Investigation team and West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement team attended to assist in the investigation.

Highway 40 was closed for several hours during the investigation but has since reopened.

The investigation is continuing.
