Driver charged

(CENTRAL ELGIN, ON) - Elgin OPP have charged a driver after a serious collision on Quaker Road in the Municipality of Central Elgin.

On Friday, November 14, 2025, at approximately 12:57 pm, Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Central Elgin Fire and Elgin Emergency Medical Services responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a tractor trailer and sedan at the intersection of Quaker Road and Southdale Line.

The passenger of the sedan, a 16-year-old of St. Thomas, was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased.

As a result of the investigation, the driver of the sedan, a 17-year-old of Central Elgin has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Careless driving causing death.

The youth’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
