(CHATHAM KENT, ON) A single vehicle caught fire after colliding with a deer on Highway 401 near Hetherington Road in the Municipality of Chatham Kent.
On Saturday, May 30, 2026, at approximately 8:40 am, Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a Sports Utility Vehicle that collided with a deer on Kings Highway 401 in the eastbound lanes.
Chatham Kent Fire attended the scene.
No one was injured.
One eastbound lane was closed for a brief period of time.
Looking further down the highway will open your field of view and allow you to respond more quickly to wild animals that cross.
