SUDDEN DEATH INVESTIGATION IN CENTRAL ELGIN
Roadway Re-opened
(CENTRAL ELGIN, ON) - Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a death in St. Thomas.
On Sunday February 22, 2026, at approximately 12:42 am members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Elgin County Detachment were dispatched to a person laying on the side of the roadway of Sunset Drive in the Municipality of Central Elgin.
Elgin St. Thomas Emergency Medical Services attended the scene with OPP and conducted life saving measures, then transported the female to St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation is in its early stages, and residents of the area should expect to continue to see an increased police presence.
Sunset Drive has now been opened.
