(CHATHAM KENT, ON) - The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment, has charged an individual following a traffic stop.

On Sunday, April 19, 2026, at approximately 1:17 pm, a member of the Elgin OPP stopped a passenger vehicle in the eastbound lanes of Kings Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham Kent. The motor vehicle was stopped for doing 161 kilometres and hour in a posted 100 km/h zone.

A 27-year-old of Mississauga was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform stunt - Excessive speed.

Their vehicle was impounded for 14 days and driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days.
