THEFT INVESTIGATION LEADS TO CHARGES

(DUTTON DUNWICH, ON) Theft from Highway 401 eastbound and westbound Service Centres in the Municipality of Dutton Dunwich results in charges.
On Thursday, February 26, 2026, at approximately 1:30 pm the Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of approximately $1000 in stolen property from the westbound Service Centre.
On Thursday, February 26, 2026, at approximately 2:15 pm The Elgin County OPP responded to a report of approximately $1500 in stolen property from the eastbound Service Centre.
Lee BAIGENT, 39-years-old of Mount Brydges was charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:
- Theft Under $5000 (two counts)
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 (two counts)
The accused was released on an Undertaking and scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas on Tuesday, June 9, 2026
