(CHATHAM KENT, ON) - The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment was dispatched to a vehicle fire on Highway 401 in the Municipality of Chatham Kent.
On Friday, May 29, 2026, at approximately 8:30 pm, Elgin OPP with Chatham Kent Fire located a heavy tow truck that was on fire on Kings Highway 401 in the eastbound lanes.
No one was injured and no charges are being laid in this investigation.
Both eastbound lanes were closed for approximately 20 minutes while the fire was being distinguished.
The Ministry of the Environment attended to clean up a fuel leak.
