ARREST MADE AFTER SHOPLIFTER ASSAULTS STORE STAFF

(GODERICH, ON) - The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual following an incident at a retail store on Huron Road in the Town of Goderich.

On Friday, September 5th, 2025, just after 9:50 am, Huron OPP officers were contacted about an individual who reportedly stole items from a store and assaulted a staff member. Police subsequently located and arrested the individual nearby. Officers located the stolen merchandise on the accused. The staff member was not injured in the assault.

David LENTING, 29 years-of-age of no fixed address has been charged with the following offences:

  • Assault, - Theft Under $5,000, - Fail to Comply with Probation

The accused was processed and held for a bail hearing where they were remanded into custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
