CHARGES LAID AFTER STOLEN SNOWMOBILE RECOVERED

(HURON EAST, ON) - The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Bluewater resident following an incident in the Town of Seaforth, Municipality of Huron East on January 06, 2026.
On Tuesday, January 06, 2026, just before 8:00 pm, Huron OPP officers were contacted about a suspicious vehicle in Huron East. Police located a pickup truck in Seaforth, which was parked with a snowmobile in the box of the truck. The snowmobile was reported stolen in 2025. The suspect was located nearby, taken into custody, and charged as follows:
Matthew ARMSTRONG, 44 years-of-age of Bluewater was charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000, - Fail to Comply with Probation - (two counts), - Fraud Over $5,000, - Public Mischief, - Fail to Comply with Release Order - (two counts)
The accused was processed and held for a bail hearing where they were remanded into custody. The accused has a future court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
