(WASAGA BEACH AND CLEARVIEW TOWNSHIP, ON)- The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two individuals with impaired operation so far in April.

On Saturday, April 4, 2026, shortly after 3:00 pm, Huronia West OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 26 in Clearview Township. Officers attended and conducted an impaired operation investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Sunny VIRDI, a 41-year-old of Brampton, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Dangerous operation

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, to answer to the charges.

On Monday, April 6, 2026, shortly after 3:30 pm, officers responded to reports of a possible impaired driver departing a business establishment on 45th Street South in the Town of Wasaga Beach. Officers located the vehicle a short time later and met with the driver.

As a result of that investigation, Michael MATTHEWS, a 34-year-old of Wasaga Beach, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, to answer to the charges.
