TWO IMPAIRED DRIVERS REMOVED FROM THE ROADS THIS WEEK

(WASAGA BEACH AND CLEARVIEW TOWNSHIP, ON)- The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two individuals with impaired operation.
On Monday, April 13, 2026, shortly after 10:15 pm, Huronia West OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Crossland Road in Springwater Township. Officers attended and conducted an impaired operation investigation.
As a result of the investigation, Karlheinz SCHMID, a 74-year-old of Wasaga Beach, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
On Friday, April 17, 2026, shortly after midnight, officers responded to a theft from a business establishment on Mosley Street in the Town of Wasaga Beach. Officers located the vehicle involved and grounds were formed that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired.
As a result of that investigation, Tiago DIAS-NETO, an 18-year-old of Wasaga Beach, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Person under 19 years - possess Cannabis
- Drive vehicle with Cannabis readily available
- Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor
- Person under 19 years having liquor
Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, to answer to the charges.
