(SUDBURY, ON) - One driver was charged with stunt driving on Highway 17.

On Sunday January 25, 2026, at approximately 11:30 pm, the Nipissing West (Sudbury) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle traveling greater than the posted speed limit, on Highway 17, Sudbury.

The vehicle was travelling at a speed of 167 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a posted 100 km/h zone.

As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old driver, from Sault Ste. Marie, was charged with speeding and drive motor vehicle - perform stunt - excessive speed.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on March 3, 2026, in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 30 day Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
