Passenger Succumbs to Their Injuries

(SUDBURY, ON) - A passenger was pronounced deceased following a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17.

On Monday, February 2, 2026, at approximately 1:00 am, members of the Nipissing West (Sudbury) Detachment of the OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 bypass, Sudbury.

Two occupants were transported to the local hospital, one person with serious injuries and a 74-year-old female from Sault Ste. Marie, who sustained life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The investigation remains ongoing with assistance from the OPP Technical Collision Investigation and Reconstruction teams to determine the cause of the collision.
