IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES LAID AFTER OPP INVESTIGATE A COLLISION

(SUDBURY, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged one person with impaired driving after police investigated a motor vehicle collision.
On Saturday May 23, 2026, at approximately 1:30 am, members from the Nipissing West (Sudbury) Detachment of the OPP, responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17, Sudbury.
No injuries were reported and the driver was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to an OPP detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Amanjot RENU, 27 years old, from Sudbury was charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand
- Dangerous operation
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 24, 2026, in Sudbury.
The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
