TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES

(FRENCH RIVER, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged one person with impaired driving after conducting a traffic stop.
On Friday April 10, 2026, at approximately 12:40 pm, members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the OPP, conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle, which was failing to display two plates on Amateewakea River Road, French River.
The driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle, then transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Stephane DUPUIS, 40 years old, from Noelville was charged with, - Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Drive motor vehicle, fail to display two plates
- Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on May 20, 2026, in Sudbury.
The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
