(MARKSTAY-WARREN, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged one person with impaired driving offences after responding to a motor vehicle in a ditch.

On Thursday January 22, 2026, at approximately 12:25 am, members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the OPP, responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 17, Markstay-Warren.

No injuries were reported and the driver was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Keegan GITTENS, 21 years-of-age, from Sturgeon Falls was charged with, - Operation while impaired - alcohol

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Fail to surrender insurance card
  • Driver fail to surrender licence
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on March 12, 2026, in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
