(RENFREW, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal collision on Highway 17 in Renfrew, which led to a temporary closure of the highway in both directions from Chenaux Road to Bruce Street. The highway has since reopened.

On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at approximately 12:45 pm, members of the Renfrew Detachment of the OPP responded to a serious collision involving a car and a pickup truck. The driver and passenger of the car, a 54-year-old female and a 78-year-old female from Vals-Des-Monts, Quebec, were transported to hospital where they were pronounced deceased. No injuries were reported for the driver and sole occupant of the pickup truck.

OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionist attended the scene, alongside emergency crews. The investigation remains ongoing.
