(CARLETON PLACE, ON) - - The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Drummond-North Elmsley resident with offences following a traffic stop.

On Saturday, May 23, 2026, just after 11:15 pm officers responded to a complaint of a suspected impaired driver in Carleton Place operating a vehicle with four flat tires. The vehicle fled when officers approached and was stopped a short time later on Townline Road W in Carleton Place.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Carleton Place detachment for testing.

As a result of the investigation, Jewel Chole CANOUGH, 25 years old, has been charged with:

  • Flight from a peace officer
  • Failure or refusal to comply with breath demand

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Monday, July 13, 2026.
