Multiple Driving Complaints Prior to Crash
(BECKWITH TWP, ON) - Lanark County OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 7 east of Carleton Place on May 19, 2026, after receiving multiple complaints from the public prior to the collision regarding the actions of one of the involved vehicles.
The collision occurred just after 2:30 pm on Highway 7 near Cemetery Side Road.
Multiple callers reported a vehicle being driven erratically, speeding and passing vehicles on the shoulder prior to rear ending another vehicle.
Both drivers were transported by Lanark County Paramedics to a local hospital. Both were treated for minor injuries.
As a result of the investigation, Carson HIMMELMAN, 20-years-old, of Smiths Falls has been charged with Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
The accused was released from custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 17, 2026
