(MISSISSIPPI MILLS TWP, ON) - The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Beckwith Township resident with impaired driving.

An OPP officer was conducting speed enforcement on Tatlock Road in Mississippi Mills Township on Sunday, May 31, 2026, just after 5:30 pm A vehicle was stopped and the driver spoken to.

The driver was arrested and transported to the OPP Detachment in Perth for testing.

As a result of the investigation, Charles LEWIS, 29 years old, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Speeding 1-49 km/h over the posted limit

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Monday, July 20, 2026.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
