-UPDATE #1- HOME INVASION ROBBERY IN LANARK HIGHLANDS

One Suspect Arrested

(LANARK HIGHLANDS TWP., ON) - The Lanark County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested one person in connection to a home invasion robbery in Lanark Highlands Township.

On Friday May 1, 2026, officers with Lanark County OPP attended a residence for a reported disturbance. While on scene officers located a male that was the subject of an arrest warrant from an incident in Lanark Village.

On Sunday, November 23, 2025, just after 5:00 am, officers with the Lanark County OPP responded to the incident in Lanark Village. It had been reported that two males, armed with baseball bats, had entered the residence. They fled before officers arrived, taking with them cash and other items. There were no injuries reported.

As a result of the investigation, Scott MITCHELL, 60-years-old of Carleton Place, has been charged with:

  • Break and enter a dwelling house
  • Robbery with a weapon
  • Forcible confinement
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Disguise with intent

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing and scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 1, 2026.

The investigation is continuing with assistance from the Lanark OPP Crime Unit and OPP Forensic Identification Services. A second person is still wanted at this time.
