COLLISION WITH CYCLIST LEADS TO CHARGES

(LEAMINGTON, ON) - One person has been charged following a collision in Leamington.
On May 10, 2026, at approximately 2:19 am, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a motor vehicle collision involving a cyclist on Erie Street South near Coronation Avenue in the Municipality of Leamington.
The driver fled the scene but was located shortly after.
David DIAS, 36-years-old of Leamington was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Dangerous Operation causing bodily harm
- Operation causing bodily harm
- Fail to stop at accident resulting in bodily harm
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The accused was scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Windsor on June 23, 2026, to answer to the charges.
The 36-years-old cyclist suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
