TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO MULTIPLE CHARGES

(LAKESHORE, ON) - Driver charged after traffic stop in Lakeshore.
On April 28, 2026, at approximately 11:17 pm, members of the Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted traffic stop on Amycroft Drive in the Municipality of Lakeshore.
Michail KARPUNOV, 18-years-old of Belle River was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code, Cannabis Control Act, Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence and Control Act offences:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Dangerous operation
- Person under 19 years - possess cannabis
- Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis
- Have care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available
- Novice driver fail to surrender licence
- Novice driver - B.A.C. above zero
- Red light - fail to stop
The accused was scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Windsor on June 10, 2026, to answer to the charges.
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute for all charged drivers.
